Degustation notes

Very deep colour, an intense, concentrated bouquet of toasted notes as well as woody coffee and smoke, with a hint of vanilla and well ripened black berries, delicate aromas of plums and herbs. Powerful in the mouth, dense, concentrated but still very elegant, with noticeable tannins and a long finish. A wine with lots of class!

Special notes

Owner: Philippe de Rothschild. Baron Philippe de Rothschild took over the vineyard at 20 years of age. Two years later, he decided that all his wine would be bottled exclusively at the Castle. Since 1945, every year the top part of the wine label is designed by adifferent artist. The vineyard area is 74 hectares and the vines average 42 years of age. The second wine, is the Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild. 85% of the wine is aged in new barrels.
