Wine Spectator - 90
The wine spends 18 months in French oak barrels. Marchesi de 'Frescobaldi AG has produced wine for more than three generations. In the fourteenth century, this noble Florentine family delivered wine to many sovereign European courts. The family empire stretched over 900 hectares in Tuscany and Friuli. Frescobaldi, very avant-garde and innovative in the use of their land, were the first in Tuscany to cultivate Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot and Pinot Noir grapes. Built in 1100, The Castello Castelgiocondo became the Frescobaldi family's property in 1989. This vineyard, the first to produce Brunello di Montalcino from the late nineteenth century, produceswines with a complex structure and good balance. This land is located near Montalcino in the Maremma region, at an altitude of 180 to 420 meters and extends over 815 hectares, of which 235 are devoted to viticulture. The soil and the hot, dry, ventilated conditions, are ideal for the production of concentrated, powerful and structured wines that can be distinguished by their balance and elegance.
