Goes well with
To accompany well seasoned and invigorating pork dishes. Otherwise, country soups with beans and pulses without tomatoes, or chicken sautéed with vegetables
Optically, this wine has a bright golden yellow colour. A nose that is strongly influenced by the barrel (vanilla, toast) but also by its fruitiness (pear, banana), white flower, slight herbaceous notes with a complex nose. Intense spiciness on the palate, juicy and powerful, yet concentrated, very elegant and balanced. An exceptional wine.
Collio is located in the eastern part of the region, in the province of Gorizia, on the border with Slovenia. It produces quality wines that were among the first in Italy to be awarded a DOC (Denominazione d'Origine Controllata) AOC in 1968. From the heights of San Floriano and Oslavia, above Gorizia, all the way to those in Ruttars, Lonzano and Vencò on the Judrio shores, which once designated the border between Austria and Italy, lined with rolling hills dotted with small villages and vineyards representing some 1,600 hectares of vines. Thanks to an excellent tourist infrastructure, this area lends itself very well to a peaceful holiday in the countryside. The hills continue almost without interruption on an ideal east-west axis, with many south-facing slopes, which offers perfect grape growing conditions. These conditions have always favoured its viticulture, dating back to pre-Roman times. The soil is dominated by marl and sandstone, which was formed in the Eocene era, following the withdrawal of the seas there 50 million years. A region that produces great white wines, dominated by Pinot, Tocai Friulano, Sauvignon and the famous Collio Bianco, a blend that enjoys a DOC appellation. Among the reds, the Collio Rosso, Cabernet and Merlot are especially worthy of mention. 100% of Cicinis is aged in barrels.
