Degustation notes

Dark ruby?colour, fragrant, spicy with plum notes, a typical Grenache expression. Aromas of dark chocolate cake with hints of tar that are specific to the best Barossa wines. Ripe tannins with perceptible notes of pickled ginger and spices that are characteristicof Mourvedre. A generous wine, soft on the palate with ripe tannins and good alcohol content. Well-rounded, flexible, focused, witha sustained nose and a long finish. Matured in old wooden barrels, it distinguishes itself with its very fruity character, as well as cherry and blackberry aromas at the finish.

Special notes

Founded in 1844, the Penfolds Winery is now one of Australia's largest wine producers. The wine is named in honor of its founder, Dr. Christoph Rawson Penfold, who emigrated to Australia. He then created a venue for patients at Magill and was engaged in the production of wine for therapeutic purposes only. The wine is aged in wooden barrels for 17 months.
