Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 dl milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 500 g brown bread, cut into 12 slices
  • To fry the bread
  • 100 g sugar
  • 2 tbsp clarified butter
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preparation

    Beat the eggs, milk, vanilla sugar and salt in a bowl. Dip the bread in the egg mixture in batches.
  • To fry the bread

    Heat the clarified butter in a non-stick frying pan. Reduce the heat, fry the bread in batches for approx. 2 mins. on each side until golden brown. Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a dish, dip the warm toast in the sugary mixture and serve immediately.
  • Serve with:

    Apple sauce or stewed pears or plums.
