Ingredients

  • Beer sauerkraut
  • 500 g cooked sauerkraut
  • 2 tbsp liquid honey
  • 1.5 dl dark beer
  • 3 sprigs thyme
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 1 bay leaf
  • a little pepper
  • To grill
  • 4 raw pork bratwurst
  • 1 baguettes (approx. 400 g), cut into four, cut open
  • Hot dogs
  • 2 tbsp coarse-grain mustard
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 0.5 tbsp liquid honey
  • 2 tbsp dried fried onions

Instructions

  • Beer sauerkraut

    In a pan, mix the sauerkraut with all the other ingredients up to and including the pepper, cover and simmer for approx. 20 mins. Remove the thyme and bay leaf.
  • To grill

    Charcoal/gas/electric grill: Grill the sausages over/on a medium heat (approx. 200°C) for approx. 10 mins. on all sides. Briefly grill the bread (cut side down) alongside.
  • Hot dogs

    Mix the mustard, mayonnaise and honey. Spread the sauerkraut on the bread, place the sausage on top, add the mustard mayonnaise and fried onions.
