Storing nuts and seeds
Nuts and many seeds, such as sunflower seeds and pistachios are very high in fat. If stored for too long, they can become rancid or moldy.
Moldy nuts and seeds should not be consumed under any circumstances. The fungal cultures produce toxic substances (e.g. aflatoxins) that can lead to health problems. Nuts and seeds should be stored in a cool, dark and dry place in their original packaging or in sealed containers.
