Degustation notes

Beautifully intense garnet colour, a ripe nose that delivers notes of earth and leather aromas supported by spice and raisins scents, an intense attack on the palate with hints of plum and spice, well structured, with a finely ample consistency. A good Brunello that is soft on the palate.

This Brunello matures for 3 years in barrels. The Brunello di Montalcino is one of the most sought after italian red wines on the international market. It is vinified from a particular type of Sangiovese grape called the """Sangiovese Grosso"""" or Brunello grape. This wine is sold as of January 1st of the sixth year after harvest, at the earliest. It is matured in oak barrels at least two years and kept in bottles for a minimum of four months to age properly. The producers of this famous wine are allowed to sell their Brunello under the """"Rosso di Montalcino"""" appellation. An opportunity that they seize when a harvest is less favorable (as in1992 and 2002). In 1960, the growing area that the Brunello grape occupied was barely 63 hectares for eleven vintners. A few years later the institution of the consortium of Brunello di Montalcino allowed several other farms - large and small - to engage in the production of this extraordinary wine.
