Special notes

The vineyard is divided into two completely different sections. One consists of clay soil that is prized in the famous Pomerol plateau, the other area is made up of light sandy soil. Beauregard is the most Burgundian of Bordeaux wines. This castle, a chartreuse was built in the seventeenth century on the site of what was a Commandery in the twelfth century, with a splendid moat and a beautiful stone terrace. But the point is not this: a complex terrain, clay and sand soils, classic grape varieties planted of which a majority is Merlot (65%) and Cabernet for its tannic contribution and finesse (30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon). A large-scale renovation of the vineyard and winery was started in 1991 by the new owner (Crédit Foncier de France) which should gradually raise this Pomerol, with its great potential, to the forefront of the appellation.
