Goes well with
Asparagus, poultry, fish and cheese based dishes
Dark lemon colour, a pleasant floral nose with exotic notes, slightly mineral, peach nuances, elegant and delicate on the palate, richly aromatic, notes of almond and ripe yellow fruit, very balanced with great body and a spicy finish. A superb Johannisberg!
A grape variety common in Central Europe, especially in Germany (Rhine-Hesse, Franconia and Palatinate). Its name indicates its forest origins. The story carries it to Eastern Europe where it is believed that the variety first grew in the wild, in a very distant past. It is possible that it originated from what is known as Austria today. We also suspect that this grape may have come from Transylvania. To Masson (the Mont d'Or Domain), the Valais has Sylvaner, called Johannisberg here. Georges Masson, the founder's son, brought this grape to the Valais in 1870 during a trip to Germany. It is a tribute to the Johannisberg Castle in the Rheingau (where Riesling has been cultivated for the past 200 years), why this grape variety is called Johannisberg.
