Cabernet Sauvignon Unplugged Burgenland Hannes Reeh

Goes well with
Traditional Austrian cuisine, braised meats, vegetarian gratins.
Rich ruby red, clear bouquet of elderberry, blackcurrant liqueur and spicy nuances, juicy fruit on the palate, dense, mature tannins and a lingering finish.
Andau, situated on the Hungarian border, which is the warmest place in Austria and also very dry, is home to wines of outstanding strength, fullness and maturity when Hannes Reeh comes into play. Play is a fitting word, as he really is a playful kind of person: since taking over his parents’ vineyard in 2007, he has taken a calm and relaxed, objective and intuitive approach to the business, without abandoning the necessary sense of purpose. He is not afraid of growth. And he seems to effortlessly combine family tradition with boundless belief in the future; the local with the foreign. This is reflected in his three types of wine: the classics are single-varietal wines (Welschriesling, pinot blanc, Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and a Merlot) for simple enjoyment. The Heideboden wines are a white and a red Cuvée: elegant and charming. And the third type, labelled Unplugged, are alsosingle varietals, but these are much more pronounced, full-bodied wines that do not undergo fining (Chardonnay, Zweigelt, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon): Unplugged wines are made without any gimmicks, but with a feel for the rhythm of nature. Hannes Reeh confidently states that Unplugged is the Andau countryside at its finest. People here come to seek out the hot stuff characteristic of him and the Seewinkel National Park. There's a true equivalent in the bottle ... and a growing fan base.
