Degustation notes

Light straw yellow colour, a nose that opens into a pleasant floral bouquet with nuances of ripe fruit and quince, ample and sweet on the attack, then with lively acidity and structured fruitiness, spicy notes of bitter almond, complex and balanced.

Special notes

DOCG for a dry white wine from the Italian region of Tuscany. The area covers the best parts of the hilly terrain but does not exceed 500 meters in altitude in the San Gimignano commune in Siena province. It was the first region to obtain a DOC classification in 1966, then elevated to a DOCG status in 1983. White wines have been produced since the thirteenth century. The white bottle of Vernaccia was the famous painter and sculptor Michelangelo Buonarroti's (1475-1564) favourite wine. Made from a special variety of Vernaccia grape found only in this region, the Vernaccia di San Gimignano (90-100%) and other permitted white grape varieties (less than 10%), have an alcohol content of at least 11% vol-. After 14 months of ageing followed by four additional months of bottle storage, aRiserva appellation can then be given. The red and rosé wines from this region are classified as DOC San Gimignano.
